04.05.2003 - sold my 120gb hd today! w00h00! now if my memory sticks would sell, that'd be nice. hehe. there has been rumors of monterey park and the san gabriel valley infected with SARS, and many seem to be very concerned and let me tell you that this is ONLY a rumor. Here's an email forwarded to me recently: Hey Everyone, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!!! The SARS disease has spread to our neighbor. Today 4-3-2003, the police have shut down Hawaii and San Gabriel Supermarket due to the employee somehow got hit by this virus. Also one of the chief at Capital restaurant in Alhambra also got this virus. The Sam Woo restaurant in the FOCUS plaza was close early today to avoid getting it. Friends, please take care of yourself and your family. Avoid going to ASIAN areas!!! This is very serious about life and death and spreading them to the love one. Pay close attention to the Chinese newspaper and be alert about this deadly virus. Please pass this message to all of your friends so they can protect their love one too. whoever started this i'd have to say is doing nothing inducing fear and panic inside the community. i agree that we must be cautious and start taking precautions, but the person that posted this as a joke has crossed the line. i'd like to direct you to NY Times article, dated Friday 4/4/03 and i quote: While Monterey Park has no known cases of the disease, which appears to have started in southern China and been spread abroad by airline passengers, residents of this city, which was the first in the continental United States to have an Asian majority, are growing increasingly jittery and going to great extremes to avoid infection. i hope this clears up any misunderstanding on the SARS situation in MPK and if u have friends who believes that the San Gabriel valley has been infected, please do help clarify the situation. (^_^x) thanks to jhs for donating this link. if u guys dont know who strongbad is (i didn't know his name until today, although i've seen many of his flash files before), but i thought the japanese cartoon was quite funny. dont forget to change your clock for daylight savings time. unfortunately we're losing an hour this time so add 1hr to your current time (ie 2am->3am). also i noticed a nifty feature in windows xp i never knew before. (win2k also has this) they actually have an automatic program to synchronize your clock. to get to this feature, goto: start -> control panel -> date and time -> internet time (tab). make sure the box next to "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server" is checked and i'll also recommend changing the server to time.nist.gov since you know how reliable microsoft/windows can be. (-_^x). one bad thing about this feature is it only updates once a week. so after a bit probing on google, i found this link. it'll teach you exactly how to change the update frequency. i've changed mines to check every hour. very nice! the anime world has been rather slow lately. nothing new. sigh... for those who follow the Animatrix, Detective Story is finally out!!!
