06.02.2005 - thought of the day: ever wonder why a spelling bee has the word bee in it? i was watching a trailer, something on spelling bees which got me to google the origin of the term: What is the origin of the term spelling bee?. One possibility is that it comes from the Middle English word bene, which means "a prayer" or "a favor" (and is related to the more familiar word boon).
