05.01.2005 - thought of the day: while i was walking home on hearst, at that peak of the hill between euclid and oxford, i walked by a girl who was crying (and at the same time trying to hold back after seeing a stranger:me). it seemed she was hurt very deeply. one doesn't cry in front of nobody or strangers if it wasn't something truly that sad. i felt sorry for her and whatever she is going through. then i thought, if anyone can smile or laugh at such a scene, he or she must be pure evil!

sorry for the lack of updates. ever get so into doing a project (be it coding, drawing, writing, etc) that you just don't want to sleep? haha it was okay for wed since my 1st class on thursday was 11 so going to bed @ 6 was alright. i was working on my cs160 project on thursday and went to sleep @ 6, but work was @ 8am. ended up with a little over an hr of sleep. haha. was so tired the next morning. ended using my lunch break @ work to catch another hour of sleep. good thing mike wasnt there or i wouldn't have been able to. so i didnt end up sleeping till 4:30am friday nite again, and was purely running on over a little over 2hrs of combined sleep and a cup of mocha expresso from brewed awakening.
so liam, chewydenise, wanderingsocks, and i went to celebrate cdmcc's bday on thursday nite. since it was cdmcc's bday, i let him order me something, and i got a shot kahlua + whiskey. pretty good considering it's alcoholic. but still something i dont like tasting.
so on saturday evening, we went to Scala's Bistro to officially celebrate cdmcc's bday. it's a pretty fancy italian restaurant and the food there was delicious. cdmcc's parent (though they weren't there) bought us 2 bottles of champagne which was really nice of them. the people that attended included livi, liam, brenna, jen, vandel, mylin, cindy, and wanderingsocks. wanderingsocks got him Jeero (Ugly Doll) which is actually more cute than ugly hehe. the rest of us chipped in to get him a iPod mini (vandel's idea). oh yah, during dinner, someone mentioned that cdmcc always has to win an argument, but that's untrue. having many debates with cdmcc, and having to give in to many, he's a very reasonable guy and if you can convince him logically, he'd fold. he's compromised many times.
oh yah, as we were walking outta scala's, there were a couple of friends fighting to pay the bill. what caught everyone's year was a conversation that went like this: a: don't argue with me. let me take care of the bill. b: but i insist. a: what are you insisting? that just threw everyone off guard. it's been such a common phrase and to hear someone say what are you insisting was actually quite amusing.
after dinner, we headed over to g bar. first time i've came here, but seems to be a regular among the group. it was actually a very nice and cozy bar. kewl fireplace too! i tooks sips of tons of alcohol, but the best was barely managable. had a couple sips of some of the nastiest stuff ever too. namico, francis, and nat came by to wish cdmcc happy bday too. cdmcc got so drunk that... i dont think i'm allowed to say anything afterwards, but if you've seen him drunk you'll have an idea.
after the bar closed, the party moved over to vandel's house. cdmcc somehow ended up running home (6 blocks from the bar), but he was too dead to continue partying anyway. people had baguettes and pepperjack cheese. vandel had this awesome meat cleaver we used to cut the cheese. we just chilled and liam did some pretty sketchy stuff, but i'm also not allowed to go there. hehe. ever made popcorn on a stove with a pop. was my 1st time to eat popcorn like this and i've gotta say, it was fun and good! we ended up coming home around 4-5ish and i have to thank mylin and cindy for driving me home.
just wanted to give a thumbs up for adobe acrobat 7. although it's still not as fast as version 5, version 7 has improved quite a bit since 6. speed has definitely increased over 2x. if you're still using 6, i'd definitely recommend that you upgrade.
can you believe it, there's only 1 more full week of instructions... then finals and graduation... many of times people have asked me what i'm going to be doing between graduation and work. nothing really is planned yet, but i guess i'd like to travel. europe? asia? different parts of america? i dunno. but i know i've saved up quite a bit these past few months from working. (^_^x) btw, did i mention this is probably the 1st month i'll receive over $1k from working? the previous months have ranged between $7xx-9xx. this is like the first month that there wasn't any holidays or breaks.
went to watch enron: the smartest guys in the room. it was quite an interesting documentary on how the enron was able to cheat the system. stuff i never knew of before. btw, did you know that the energy crisis was a fake? haha. maybe i should read the news more.
got this image from iichan:

minesweeper being one of my favorite windows games, i thought this was funny scene when me-chan is trying to push the flag (which right now are gauranteed bombs) while 2k-chan is working hard on the other side of the board

thanks to ungsunghero for donating this article: Apple sued over "Tiger," injunction sought. At the root of the issue appears to internet search results. Tiger Direct contends that Apple's use of the name has adversely affected its ranking amongst the Internet's largest search engines, Google and Yahoo, bumping the company from its usual spot in the first three results. if they win, i think i should trademark lion and other felines as computer software companies ;p
thanks to ungsunghero for donating this info: 802.11g slowdown tackled, but does it matter?. apparently if you mix both 802.11g and 802.11b wireless on your g access point, it causes traffic for g to slow down tremendously. i didn't know this before, but it's quite interesting that it does. so i guess for those that want to take full advantage of their g wireless network, to have no b devices on it.
thanks to ungsunghero for donating this thread: Funny Bush quote from his press conference.. "Gas can only be transported by ship when you liquefy it - you know, put it in solid form." sigh... i can't believe he's our president.
