09.04.2005 - wow! it's been like a week since my last update. i hope everyone's labor day weekend is going well. i've been really busy and really tired. so my parents finally left. i appreciate what they did for me during the short time they're here, but everything's so restrictive when they're around. hehe. welp, a bunch of stuff has happened this week. i finally got my haircut today. no longer tickles me ears! yay! haircut prices here are comparable to SF, but can't compare to the prices back in monterey park. i think the cheapest around here is like $15 compared to my regular $6 haircuts back in mpk. sigh... guess what! stanman is here in seattle too! he's doing grad school in UW. actually found that out through thefacebook. pretty kewl. we hung out this saturday. first, lunch @ qdoba (mexican food like chipotle). then we watched The Brothers Grimm. the movie was so-so. started out looking really fun, but then the story dragged on and the action wasn't really that great and the ending was really rushed. though there were some tales which I didn't know where it came from. what comes after is quite interesting. so we decided we wanted to go bowling. so searching places around redmond resulted in $4/shoe rental and $5/game/person. pretty expensive. so then we searched seattle and it actually was cheaper there! shoe rentals was $2 and it was only $11/hr/lane. we actually got 3 games in that one hr and we spent less than $7/person. and i was unbelievable. i couldn't even believe how well i bowled!!! my scores were 124, 107, 112. i think i only broke 100 once before, but i got 3 continuous games of > 100!!! stanman bowled about the same as me, but unfortunately i beat him in every round, but only by a few points in each round. and i havent played for at least half a year. during the 3rd round, my arm was getting sored tho and i was making quite a bit of mistakes and actually had a few gutter balls. how i managed 112 in that round, i dont even know the answer to that. neither of us were hungry yet, so we went back to stanman's apt to chill. pretty nice place he has! we were channel surfing and then watched some poker tournament. there were quite some interesting hands like AK vs AQ vs A6 and guess who wins? A6! haha. then that same guy comes in and wins with pair of 2's vs AK to win the tournament. to show just how lucky he was, a 3rd 2 appears on the river and the opponent was dead in the water. we also watched iron chef america (1st time i've seen the american version). it was quite interesting, but i think the japanese version was more fun with the hilarious translated commentaries. we then went out and had pho. it's been awhile since i actually had pho. the place was pretty good. and then we called it a day. welp, all the items of my new PC have been purchased (some are still coming in). well... besides the keyboard and mouse, but those can wait. i'm so poor now... i spent way too much money this past 2 weeks and i just spurged on an anime sale. here's the list of things i purchased in the past 2 weeks.
haha. i can't wait to see this month's cc bill. sigh... i'll probably die from shock. i just filled out 5 rebates today totalling $240. so if everything works out, i'll be biking to microsoft tomorrow to see how long it takes. hopefully, i wont get be too lazy and give up before putting on my helment. ;p oooh oh yah! on friday, i met a new friend. we actually met on ms dl. he needed a ride to the airport to go back to LA for labor day weekend and asked me if i could do him this big favor. thought it'd be nice to meet a new friend. turns out he's also from berkeley! graduated my year too! but he was recruited a year before me, so that's why i haven't seen him. it was pretty kewl. speaking of new friend, i also met another friend maxxius on the ms anime dl. turns out he's from rowland heights, went to ucla for a year, then transferred to digipen. another anime fanatic (a much bigger fanatic than me). he actually has 3 book shelves filled with anime dvds (real ones, not burnt). it's pretty amazing. we went to fry's together to pick up my cpu+mobo combo and my 4 seagate hdds. thanks to him, finding frys was quite easy. we then went to some pretty good thai restaurant in bellevue. the pineapple fried rice there was delicious! so i finally watched The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. wasn't as good as i expected it to be, but it had its moments. lots of stuff were also unexplained. would've been better if they split the movie into multiple parts and actually tried to explain some stuff would be nice. *** SPOILERS AHEAD *** how many of you thought that martin and trillian were going to be the new adam & eve?!?!?! i was totatlly expecting that to happened, and then the come out with this new earth and returning it to what it was before. so i learnt a new word from ungsunghero: Agnosticism. turns out i'm agnostic! the word actually sounds pretty bad. makes me sound like some schizophrenic (no offense to those who are). but whenever anyone asks me what my religion is or if i believe in god, i didn't really know how to answer. the closest answer i've come to was that i was an atheist or someone that didn't believe in god. but that's not exactly true. i believe a higher being may exist and i'm not saying there isn't a higher being out there, but i can't make up my mind "which" one to believe in and i can't understand why if i believe in one, i can't believe in another. so i'm here waiting until i can find a reason to believe in one particular one. i'll probably never find it, which makes me agnostic. Agnosticism is distinct from strong atheism (also called positive atheism), which denies the existence of any deities. However, the more general variety of atheism, weak atheism (also called negative atheism), professes only a lack of belief in a god or gods. Agnosticism, on the other hand, simply states that the existence of metaphysical or supernatural deities or other entities, which are by definition beyond the powers of human sense to detect, is impossible to confirm or deny, and as such are irrelevant to human affairs. i was trying to look up the origin/etymology of the word "heck", but even with google, i wasn't able to find much besides it's a euphemism for hell. if anyone can find info regarding the origin of heck, i'd like to know. it was quite funny when i saw this statement: "Gosh will darn you to heck and tarnation" is equivalent to "God will damn you to hell and eternal damnation." got this link from fw: 1019898.com (original thread). great deal for those who are living in CA using SBC or Verizon! 09.05.2005 - thought of the day: did you know that once cows start lactating, they won't stop until someone stops milking them. in other words, as long as they're getting milk, more milk will be made. so once cows have a baby calf, they can be milked till the day they die. i always thought there was a limited supply of milk and once the milk has been milked, the cow needs to have another baby to create more milk. hehe. turns out it's the same for humans. so i actually went and tried to bike today. but i sorta collapsed half way there. can't believe my body's ins such bad shape. well, to make it sound a little better for me, it was all up hill to the middle point. but while i was waiting at the traffic light, my mouth suddenly got really dry. then i went to grab my water bottle, but something was really really wrong. i started to lose vision and everything was really bright. my chest started to hurt from my heart pounding so hard. drinking water was also quite painful. i was wondering what the heck is going on. i dropped my backpack, i dropped my bick and i pulled myself over to the grass and collapsed. i sorta slept there for bout 5-10mins. slowly i regain consciousness. i decided that would be enough for today and turn around to go home. the ride home was really fun. all downhill. so, maybe next week, i'll give it another attempt. though i did get a pretty good workout. think the total trip was 30mins (excluding the time i was unconcious) remember the story of the guy after setting his car on cruise control and went into the back of his trailer to make coffee and after crashing his trailer into the sholder, he sued the manufacturer and won? apparently that story was fake. from snopes.com: A version of the list that began circulating in the spring of 2002 has yet another urban legend included as its final item, the venerable cruise control legend: In November 2000, Mr. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32 foot Winnebago motor home.
